Bee Jays Squander Lead in Dodge City

KSCB News - July 27, 2009 12:00 am

The Bee Jays led 6-2 going to the bottom of the sixth innings. Brett Davis had pitched a 1-2-3 fifth inning and things looked promising for an eighth straight league win at Dodge City Sunday night. But the Dodge City A’s, struggling at 16-25 overall and 5-23 in the Jayhawk mounted a rally. The A’s scored three in the sixth to make it 6-5 after four straight singles to begin the inning. The A’s countered for five runs and four hits in the seventh as the BJ’s also committed two errors in the inning. Liberal falls out of second place in the Jayhawk League with the loss. Pepperdine’s Torrey Jacoby was 4-5 in the loss. Liberal is 25-18 overall and 16-14 in the Jayhawk. Liberal hosts Dodge City Monday night at 7:00 PM on Brent Gould Field. Hays beat Derby 7-6 in Hays meaning Hays is 16-13 in the league.
