Bee Jays Add Two More Former Saints

The Liberal Bee Jays pitching staff just improved. The Bee Jays added two former Seward pitchers and a Lubbock Christian pitcher. Former Saints Christian Kowalchuk and Travis Parker join the team along with Lubbock Christian’s Paul Gonzalez. Kowalchuk will start Sunday night’s game at Haysville before Parker and Gonzalez join the team Monday.

The lefty from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada was 3-0 with a 2.11 ERA and 21 strikeouts and three walks out of the bullpen for Arkansas during his senior season. Kowalchuk pitched for the BJ’s in 2007 and 2008. He was 14-7 in two years at Seward in 2007 and 2008.

Travis Parker joins the BJ’s after playing the past couple of weeks in the North Woods Leauge for Madison. Parker plays for St. Louis University. During the spring of 2009, Parker set the Seward record for saves with 12 and also hit .371 with nine homers and 54 RBI’s. Parker played and Kansas City Community College in 2008 and is from Lincoln, Nebraska.

Paul Gonzalez is a former Texas Tech pitcher who was 10-1 with a 5.47 ERA for Lubbock Chrisitian this spring. Gonzalez is from Fort Worth, Texas.

The 7-1 Jayhawk League leading BJ’s begin a three game series at the Haysville Heat Friday night at 7 p.m. on Talkradio 1270 and kscbnews.net.
