KSCB News - July 21, 2015 1:45 pm

Following her inaugural year serving as Assistant Coach for the Seward County Volleyball program, Monday, Thais Baziquetto-Allen was named the 13th Head Coach in Lady Saints history.

In her first season with the Lady Saints, Baziquetto-Allen coached three All-Conference players for Seward. She helped the Lady Saints to a third place finish in the Jayhawk West standings and a 23-19 overall record.

Baziquetto-Allen was 97-57 in four seasons as the Head Coach for the Lady Redskins. In 2013 Baziquetto-Allen guided Liberal to a 23-18 record and a second place finish in the Western Athletic Conference. In 2012 Baziquetto-Allen led Liberal to a 28-14 season and just one win short of a WAC Championship. For her efforts in 2012, Baziquetto-Allen was named the WAC Coach of the Year.

Along with her four years of experience at Liberal High School, Baziquetto-Allen has also been instrumental in the development of the Liberal Volleyball Club in the offseason. Baziquetto-Allen has coached an LVC team for each of the past four years and has worked with a number of other coaches inside of the club as well as at the Kids Inc. level during that span.

Prior to her four year stint at Liberal, Baziquetto-Allen was an Assistant Coach at Lamar Community College in Colorado. In her only season with the ‘Lopes, Baziquetto-Allen helped Lamar to a 26 win season which included her recruitment of three All-Conference players. While at Lamar, Baziquetto-Allen was also in charge of the ‘Lopes strength and conditioning program.

As a player Baziquetto-Allen starred at Western New Mexico University at St. Petersburg College. At Western New Mexico she was named to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Academic Team during her senior season and graduated with honors from WNMU. At St. Petersburg she helped the Titans to a 26-9 record during her sophomore season and was on the President’s Honor Roll.

Baziquetto-Allen is a native of Guarulhos, Sao Paulo, Brazil and is married to Seward County Sports Information Director Roy Allen.

She takes over for Bert Luallen who guided Seward to a school record 252 wins over his 10 years as Head Coach. Luallen led the Lady Saints to nine straight finishes in the top three of the Jayhawk West standings, posting an 86-34 league mark in his career. Luallen will remain close to the Seward program as he has been named the Director of Admissions at the school.

Baziquetto-Allen will lead the Lady Saints into their 2015 season when they open the year at the New Mexico Military Kick-Off Classic August 21-22 in Roswell, New Mexico.
