Bar Always Raised High in Ulysses

KSCB News - September 3, 2009 12:00 am

It’s the finish and not the beginning that high school football teams are remembered. Last year Ulysses started 0-3 with losses to Garden City, Hays, and Scott City. But the Tigers won their district and went 5-5. They are just two years removed from being 11-2. The Tigers return seven starters on defense and six on offense from their district championship team. Tenth year head coach Jason Kenny says the expectations are alway high in Ulysses. “The ceiling in unlimited,” Kenny said. “The ceiling is unlimited,” Kenny said. “I told them that early on. I think we have really good leadership out of our senior class and there’s quite a few of them in that class. It’s a pretty tight group of kids. I know we have to get better than we are now but I know I’m excited and the community’s excited. It should be another fun year here in Ulysses.”

Key Tigers include senior qb Bryce Moral, senior rb Addison nIchols, junior lineman Ryan Kautz, senior ol/lb Chano Pauda, senior ol/lb Brandon Seger, senior wr/db Josh Sullivan, senior lineman Jack Maxwell, junior db Andy Simpson, and senior de Tyler Haney.
