Back To School Information For USD 480 Liberal

Liberal U.S.D. #480 will begin the 2016-2017 school year on Friday, August 26th.  Classes for all Eisenhower Middle and South Middle School students as well as all 9th grade students will be in full operation beginning August 26th, school lunch will be served and buses will run on the regular schedule.  The first day of classes for Cottonwood & Sunflower 4th graders as well as all students in grades 1st through 3rd and Liberal High School sophomores through seniors will be Monday, August 29th. The first day of classes for preschool, kindergarten, and 5th graders at Cottonwood and Sunflower Intermediate will be Tuesday, August 30th.  Parent-teacher conferences will be held at the elementary and intermediate schools on August 26th and parent-teacher conferences for preschool and kindergarten will be held on August 26th and 29th.

District schools will be open to answer your enrollment questions beginning on July 27th as follows:

Due to construction, if enrollment locations, times or dates are changed, announcements will be made via district social media as well as announced through local media outlets.

All students will enroll at their individual building sites, including MacArthur students who will enroll at Cottonwood.

All high school students who did not enroll on their scheduled day may do so on Friday, August 5, from 8:00 am to 11:00 am and 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Liberal High School Counselors’ Office phone number is 620-604-1209.

At enrollment all students must have two proofs of their current living address (driver’s license, electric bill, water bill, cable bill, etc.)  These are required for enrollment.

New students to USD 480 must also have updated immunization records and birth certificate.

Transfer requests may be made at enrollment, BUT will only be considered if space is available.

NOTE:  Beginning Tuesday, August 9th, all students (except high school students) will go to the Newcomer’s Center to register.  The Newcomer’s Center is located at 1002 W. 11th.  (West door with large red sign).  For questions, call 620-604-1010
