Ashley is Pitcher of the Week

You couldn’t draw up much of a better start for Seward County freshman Monique Ashley as just two games into her Lady Saints career, the righthander has been named the Jayhawk West Pitcher of the Week in a league release on Tuesday.
Ashley headed the Seward rotation like a veteran this weekend in her first action with the Lady Saints. She spun a pair of complete games, allowing just one run in 12 innings pitched. Friday, she allowed just two hits while striking out seven in a run rule win over El Paso and backed that up with her first career shutout in a four hitter against McCook.
Ashley and the Lady Saints will return to the diamond this weekend when they take part in the Midland College Classic in Texas.
