Alex Lopez Wins Meade Meet

The Liberal cross country teams opened their season on a hot

afternoon at the Meade Golf Course Thursday. The Liberal

boys took second and the girls placed third. Alex Lopez

won the meet. Edwin Murillo was fifth while Aaron Barbosa

was 11th and Daniel Amparan was 14th. Audrey Gilmore paced

the Liberal girls taking ninth place. Hallie West was 10th

followed by Reece Hay (14th), Abigail Michel (16th), and

Pamela Bolavor (20th). Stanton County’s boys and girls

both won the meet. The Southwestern Heights girls were

second.  This was the first meet under coach Stan Kachel

who won nine state championships as a track and cross

country coach at Hooker.  Liberal runs at Hesston on

Thursday.
