SWMC Announces Benjamin Muñoz, DNP, Now Seeing Patients at Southwest Care Center

Southwest Medical Center is proud to announce that Benjamin Muñoz, DNP, APRN, FNP-C, has joined the provider team at Southwest Care Center as a family nurse practitioner.

Muñoz has been part of the Southwest Medical Center team since 2013, having worked in the Medical-Surgical and Intensive Care Unit. Now, with over a decade of hands-on experience, he is expanding his role as a bilingual primary care provider for the community he has long served.

A graduate of Oklahoma Panhandle State University, Muñoz earned his Bachelor of Science degree before completing his Doctor of Nursing Practice at Washburn University in December 2024. He is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board.

It’s an opportunity to give back to my community by promoting wellness and supporting health maintenance,” Muñoz says.

At Southwest Care Center, Muñoz will work alongside Nurse Practitioner Luis Camacho to provide comprehensive family medicine services. In addition to primary care, both providers will also support local athletes and sporting events as part of the center’s growing sports medicine efforts.

Muñoz will also specialize in orthopedics and sports medicine, working closely with orthopedic surgeon Dr. Kawtharani to develop personalized care plans for patients with joint, muscle, and sports-related conditions.

His care philosophy is focused on prevention:

“Prevention is the best medicine. Through vaccinations, healthy lifestyle choices, and regular checkups, we can significantly reduce the need for costly treatments. Early detection and intervention can lead to better outcomes, lower risk of disability, and improved quality of life.”

Southwest Care Center is currently accepting new patients, walk-ins, and most major insurances, including Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Medicare, and both Kansas and Oklahoma Medicaid. The clinic is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to noon.
