Redskins Take Opener Over Colby

Brock Kappelmann - December 4, 2021 7:51 am

The Liberal Redskins won their first game for new head coach Keenan Thompson Friday night in the Big House.  Liberal beat Colby 54-47 in Colby’s first ever trip to the Big House for high school basketball.

The Redskins led 17-14 after one quarter and took a 31-20 lead just before lead 31-24 at halftime.  The Redskins led 36-24 in the third quarter before LHS settled for a 41-36 lead after three quarters.  The Eagles rallied with a 17-5 run to tie the game at 41-41.  But they never took a late lead.  A clutch right corner three pointer by Logan Miller gave the Redskins a 46-41 lead.

Neither team could hit a free throw as Liberal was 8-19 and Colby was 13-27.  Liberal was just 3-17 from three point range.

Coby Tran and Izzy Rotolo scored 11 a piece.  Logan Miller had nine.

Liberal hosts Wichita Trinity Thursday night at about 7:45 on 1270, 92.3, The KSCB and The Legend App, and Redskin YouTube channel.
