KDHE Releases New Student Immunization Requirements and Recommendations

Joe Denoyer - May 6, 2019 9:24 am

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has released new requirements and recommendations for student immunizations beginning for the 2019-2020 school year. Vaccination efforts by school and public health officials, immunization providers and parents are key to the success of protecting our children and communities from vaccine-preventable diseases

The changes impact students entering Kindergarten, 1st, 7th and 11th grades for the 19-20 school year:
  • Hepatitis A:  Two doses required for all students entering kindergarten and 1st grades
  • Meningococcal: Two doses required for students entering 7th grade (ages 11-12) and 11th grade (ages 16-18)

If parents have questions or concerns regarding their child’s immunization status, please speak with your school nurse, Seward County Health Department or your healthcare provider.
