Bee Jays Make NBC and Beat Broncos

bj's win vs. el doradoAfter learning they are in the NBC World Series, the Liberal Bee Jays won their next to last game of the regular season 3-2 over the El Dorado Broncos Tuesday night at Brent Gould Field.  Pitching was the difference for the BJ’s.  Liberal did not allow an earned run.

Reid Petty pitched six strong innings for the Bee Jays.  He went six innings and allowed two unearned runs with five strikeouts and one walk.  Blake Goldsberry pitched a scoreless innings.  Zach Hansen pitched a scoreless inning and got out of a first and second and no out jam by inducing a 4-6-3 double play.  Lee Busto worked a scoreless ninth for his fourth save.

Liberal scored in the bottom of the first.  Marc Mumper singled and scored on Blake Brewster’s single to center.  The Broncos scored an unearned run in the third.  Liberal took the lead in the fourth as Brandon Urquizo singled home Owen Taylor who had walked.  El Dorado scored an unearned run in the fifth.  The BJ’s plated the go ahead run in the fifth on Brewster’s sacrifice fly to center scoring Kyle Knauth.

Liberal is 12-8 in the second half and the Broncos are 12-7.  Hays is 13-6 and Dodge City 12-8 after Hays won 19-9 in Dodge City.

Liberal will be in the NBC World Series as likely the Jayhawk number two in the first week and play Friday and Sunday at 7 p.m. and Tuesday at 9:30 p.m.

The Bee Jays host El Dorado Wednesday at 7 at Brent Gould Field with the Dugout Show at 6:45 on 1270 and kscbnews.net.  State Farm Jerry Harding is the buyout sponsor.  Host families will be recognized on the field before the game and are asked to be at the ball park at 6:30.
