SCCC Goes Deep Eight Times in Sunday Split at Colby

It was a crazy weekend in Colby. One day after losing 12-3 and winning 16-6 in a run rule, it was more of the same on Sunday. The Saints won the first game 14-0 in five innings and lost the finales 21-10 at Young Memorial Field in Colby. Seward earns a split with the first place team on the road but fails to make up any ground against the first place Trojans.

In game one, Jared Biddy (4-0) went five shutout innings for the win. Seward scored five in the first when Justin Graff-Rowe led off the game with a homer. Dylan Paul hit a three run shot befoe Chad Kennedy’s solo homer. Seward added a solo home run by Kennedy in the fourth. Seward poured on eight in the fifth. Josh Nicol provided an RBI single before Brian Tims doubled home two. Graff-Rowe had an RBI single and Tony Dorado lift a three run homer over the scoreboard in right.

Seward’s pitching was bad in game two. Seward allowed 21 runs on 19 hits. Seward pitching didn’t give the team a chance to win with five bean balls and eight walks. The Saints scored one in the first when Graff-Rowe doubled and Logan Nethercot singled him home. But Colby scored three in the first. SC added three in the second as Errett Edward hit a three run homer. The Trojans countered with six in the second. Colby added three in the third to lead 12-4. The Saints scored four in the fourth to make it 12-8 when Edward hit another three run homer after Easton Herring’s RBI double. The Trojans poured on five in the fifth to lead 17-8 and added four in the sixth. Seward got a Graff-Rowe homer in the sixth to make it 17-10.

Seward is 18-17 overall and 8-8 in the Jayhawk West. as Colby is 25-11 and 14-6 tied for first with Garden City. Seward plays at Clarendon Wednesday and hosts Cloud Saturday and Sunday at 1 on 1270 and kscbnews.net.
