Liberal Blanks Borger in Home Opener

Liberal’s girls soccer team won their home opener 2-0 over Borger Friday night at Redskin Field. One day after an opening loss at Dodge City, the Redskins get to .500 with the win.

Carolina Limon scored off a penalty kick at the 29:56 mark for the first goal. Giselle Melendez scored on a one on one break away against the Borger goal keeper at the 17:47 mark. Mary Nunez assisted that goal.

Liberal led shots on goal 7-3. LHS goalie Reyna Gonzalez had three saves. This was a physical game and both teams had two yellow cards each. The JV won 3-0.

Liberal plays Monday at 4 in the Wichita South Titan Classic against Wichita Heights.
