Size Matters in Sublette

KSCB News - August 23, 2012 1:45 pm

It could be a big year for a big team in Sublette. The Larks have linemen who go 350, 260, 230, 230, and 230 pounds. The news gets even better for 9th year head coach Steve Simpson and the future of Lark football as only two of those linemen are seniors. After going 2-7 in 2010, the Larks were 5-4 last season and return seven starters on defense and six starters on offense. The Larks have 29 players including eight seniors out for football at the 2A school.

Senior fullback and middle linebacker Avigael Gonzalez. Other key Larks include senior lineman Laramie Lumley, senior running back and outside linebacker Eric Miller, senior wide receiver and defensive back Carlos Chaviria, senior wide receiver and defensive back Kyle Line, junior quarterback Brendan Giesick, senior wide receiver and defensive back Lester Withers, and junior lineman Travis Webb.

Sublette last made the playoffs in 2009. Their district is loaded with Meade, Stanton County, Elkhart, and Syracuse.

Coach Simpson and the Larks were guests during the Thursday Sportsguys.
