KSCB News - May 30, 2012 1:39 pm

The Liberal Bee Jays host the Kansas Cannons (Andover) Friday night at 7 p.m. to begin their season. The night will be recognized as Don Carlile Night. The long time Liberal BJ supporter and recruiter passed away at the age of 82 in November of 2010. Don Carlile night was scheduled for last summer but was rained out.

Carlile recruited some of Liberal’s championship teams. The National Baseball Congress named Carlile the winner of the "Hap" Dumont Award in 1985 when a BJ team he recruited won the NBC World Series.

Ruffino’s is the buyout sponsor of the game which will air on Talkradio 1270 and kscbnews.net.

His brother Bob Carlile passed away in January. He will be recognized during the 4th of July game at Brent Gould Field. Bob is a member of the Kansas Baseball Hall of Fame and the NBC Baseball Hall of Fame.
