Saints Defense Stymies Dodge City

The Saints are in the final four of the Region 6 Basketball Tournament. The Saints beat Dodge City 70-65 Sunday night at Hartman Arena. Seward is 26-6 and faces Cloud County at 7 p.m. Monday night in Wichita. Cloud topped Independence 70-68.

The Seward defense was the difference in a game they led 30-29 at halftime. Seward forced 24 Dodge City turnovers and won despite shooting only 38.6 percent. The Saints led by as many as 14 three times (58-44, 62-48, and 66-42).

Brice Jenkins led the Saints with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Daveon Boardingham scored 16. Tramel White scored 31 for Dodge City who finishes 20-12 and 0-3 against the Jayhawk West champion Saints.

Seward and Cloud play Friday night in the rubber game of their season series. The Saints won 86-63 January 14 in the Green House with Cloud winning 77-74 February 16 in Concordia.

In the other games, Barton beat defending Region 6 champion Coffeyville 68-64 and Cowley ousted Hutchinson 61-52. The Cougars play the Tigers at 5 p.m.
