Saints and Busters Draw Even in Softball Race

KSCB News - April 5, 2011 6:37 am

In a big mid-season Jayhawk West Conference double
header the Seward County Lady Saints and Garden City Lady Broncbusters
split a double header to remain tied in second place in the conference
standings. Garden would take an early 2-0 lead in the 1st inning of
game one and would hold the advantage all the way to the 5th inning. In
the 5th the Lady Saints finally came alive, scoring 3 runs to take a 3-2
lead of their own. Seward would tack on 4 more runs in the 6th to win
the game 7-2. Leah Sitter was 2 for 3 with 2 RBI’s while Breanna Diaz
and Michelle Duford each had a hit and an RBI. Game two was a good old
fashioned barn burner. The teams would combine for 26 runs on 43 hits
while making 9 errors in a 15-11 Garden City win. Fifteen of the
eighteen starters would have multiple hits in the game including Diaz
who was 4 for 5 and Taylor McDougall who finished 3 for 5 with 3 RBI’s.
