Back To The Drawing Board For Greensburg’s Big Well Museum

KSCB News - September 7, 2010 12:00 am

The Greensburg City Council is back to

the drawing board when it comes to a design for a new Big Well

Museum.

The council has rejected a bid and design from the Kansas

city-based architectural firm BNIM for a museum to showcase the

town’s main tourist draw. The bid was more than $300,000 over the

budgeted $3 million for the museum.

The council was scheduled to consider at its Tuesday meeting

whether to retrain BNIM or choose another firm to design the

museum.

BNIM has worked with the town

on other projects as it continues to rebuild from a May 2007

tornado, including building the new city hall and school. City

Administrator Steve Hewitt says those projects came in within

budget.
