On July 9, 2026, the Haskell County Sheriff’s Office received a report regarding an alleged suspect who had harassed/stalked the reporting party, leading to a civil standby at the 300th block of South Wooten Street in Sublette. Deputies responded immediately and observed the suspect exit their vehicle and leave the location shortly thereafter. Deputies proceeded to conduct a traffic stop and contacted the vehicle’s driver, identified as Jacob Peters. Meanwhile, additional units contacted the victim to further ensure their safety. After further investigation, deputies arrived at a second location to assist the victim with gathering their property. During this time, deputies witnessed Peters continue to contact the victim by telephone, making multiple threats against their life. Subsequently, Peters arrived on scene and was detained upon contact. Deputies transported Peters to the Haskell County Jail where he was placed into custody for aggravated assault; use of a deadly weapon, and aggravated battery; reckless deadly weapon causing great bodily harm/disfigurement/death.
