The Liberal Bee Jays began a five day road trip with a 9-8 loss to the Gameday Angels Sunday night at Double Angel Park in Parker.
The Bee Jays scored one in the first when Ben Finnegan singled and scored when Cade Adams line a single to center. The Angels scored five in the fifth on two hits and two B.J. errors. The Angels scored a sixth inning run to lead 6-1. Trenton Uyeda singled with one out in the seventh before Cal Anthony blasted a two run home run to right to make it 6-3. The Bee Jays broke through with a four run fourth to lead 7-6. Cooper Kardokus singled before Cole Manuel was hit by a pitch. Noah Giovanelli singled home a run. Cade Adams singled. Cal Anthony ripped a three RBI double to right to give the B.J’s the 7-6 lead. The Angels scored three in the eighth to lead 9-7. Seth Green ripped an RBI double to right center in the ninth and represented the tying run at third but did not score in a 9-8 loss.
The Bee Jays out-hit the Angels 11-9 but the B.J.’s had three errors and several other misplays. The Angels did not commit an error.
Brooks Kappelmann started and went 4 and 1/3 with seven strikeouts and two walks. Cal Anthony was 2-4 with a home run, a double, and five RBI’s to be Black Hills Energy Player of the Game. Ben Finnegan and Cade Adams added two hits a piece.
The Angels are 7-8 overall and 6-8 in Rocky Mountain. The Bee Jays drop their third straight and fall to 10-6 and 8-5 in the Rocky Mountain. The Bee Jays play the Colorado Lumberjax Monday evening at 5:30 central time with 5:15 pregame on 1270 and 92.3 FM .
