480 Board Approves Boys Swimming

A new sport is coming to Liberal High School.  Boys swimming will be offered next school year at LHS.  The USD 480 board met Monday night and approved boys swimming as a new activity at LHS. LHS already has girls swimming in the spring.  Boys swimming is a winter sport in Kansas.

The board approved news SCCC courses for LHS students.  There will be three computer information systems classes, 14 new heating and air conditioning classes, and four new concurrent classes for credit at the college and high school.  Those classes are gas pedal and arch welding, OSHA safety, statistics, and government.

The 480 board gave their blessing to new kitchen equipment at Meadowlark, Prairie View, and MacArthur to provide full working kitchens for $111,044.64.

The board approved naming the pre-k early learning center the Bright Start Early Learning Center.  The program is at Southlawn.

The board approved the purchase of playground equipment for Meadowlark for $73,541.

They approved the renewal of their license with Powerschool for $24,990.
