45th Annual Cowchip Festival Held In Beaver

The 45th annual World Championship Cowchip Throw was held in Beaver Oklahoma, on Saturday. The annual throwing competition and Bandoleer concert culminated a week full of festivities. Saturday morning started a 5K Color Classic Walk/Run followed by a Kiddie Parade,then a huge downtown parade., The attention then turned to the fairgrounds. There was a carnival, commercial and craft fair, entertainment and plenty of food throughout the entire Beaver County Fairgrounds. The World Championship Throw started at 3:00pm. Winners on the day included: in the Mens Division Jon Elfers of Beaver with a throw of 149′ 10", followed by Terry Eklund, and James Pratt. In the Womens Division, Terri Welty had the farthest throw at 107"3". In second was Dana Martin of Guymon, followed by Nicole Klepper in third. In the VIP Division, Liberal Mayor Joe Denoyer took first place, while Blake Prosser came in second and Hunter Maner was in third. In the Team Competition, the Beaver Fire Department once again claimed top honors with a combined tos for the four members of 274′ 9", followed by SWOSU Tird Tossers. In third was KKBS. Once again the Beaver Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the City of Beaver, and its many sponsors, put on a wonderfully organized, fun event for the entire family.
