27 Pounds Of Meth Seized

A man was arrested for allegedly trafficking in more than 27 pounds of methamphetamine.

According to the Texas County Court Clerk’s Office, Jesus Chavez, 33, was driving a 2008 red Ford Mustang bearing a Missouri license plate and pulled over for speeding.

A reort in the Guymon Daily Herald goes on to say that officers asked Chavez to search the vehicle for unknown reason. Chavez gave officers permission to search the vehicle.

During the course of the search, a Special Agent located an access door leading to a natural void in the front fender well of the vehicle and asked Chavez if he would follow officers back to the Goodwell Police Department, Chavez told officers that he was in a hurry and would like to get back on the road. Officers deployed a K-9 unit. The K-9 then made a positive hit for methamphetamine. A total of 15 bundles were processed for a total weight of approximately 27.8 pounds.

Chavez is being charged with aggravated trafficking in an illegal drug, methamphetamine, within 2000 feet of school or park, a felony. Chavez is being held at the Texas County Detention Center with a bond of $500,000.
