The “Turpinators” Take Home The Robotics Champion Trophy

The Mid America Air museum hosted the Annual Kansas Southwest Region First Lego League Championship. The event will took place Saturday, March 25th.

Teams from Oklahoma, Kansas, Colorado, and Texas competed in this Robotics Competition. During the morning hours, the teams made presentations before a panel of judges and fine tuned their robots on practice tables for the afternoon table competition.

The theme for this years event was “Animal Allies”. Lego Teams constructed a robot from Lego’s, with a Project mission to make interactions with animals better for everyone. The students had been asked to research and solve real-world problems when people and animals interact. Winners on the day were:

Project Award – 1st Tyrone, 2nd Canadian TX

Robot Design – 1st Pratt Skyline, 2nd South Middle School

Core Values – 1st Spearman TX, 2nd Slapout OK

Robot Performance – 1st Tyrone, 2nd Slapout OK

Overall Champion – Turpin OK

The event took over 70 volunteers to put on.
