Polls Open Until 7:00pm For August 5th Primary

Kansas voters will decide several races in Tuesday’s primary, choosing their candidates for a U.S. Senate seat and two U.S. House seats.

Polls opened at 7 a.m. across Kansas, and state election officials are reminding voters that they’ll need to show a valid photo ID in order to vote.

The marquee race involves incumbent Sen. Pat Roberts facing off against tea party challenger Milton Wolf. And for U.S. Congress, incumbent Mike Pompeo is being challenged by former U.S. Rep. Todd Tiahrt in the state’s 4th Congressional District, while 1st District incumbent Tim Huelskamp is being challenged by Alan LaPolice.

Statewide office primaries also include races for governor, insurance commissioner and secretary of state.

On a local level, the following offices will also be on the ballot for today’s Primary:

Meg Wilson, Great Bend, Republican

District Court Judge 26th District, 1st Division
Candidate Filings:
Bradley E. Ambrosier, Elkhart, Republican

District Court Judge 26th District, 3rd Division
Candidate Filings:
Linda Gilmore, Hugoton, Republican

County Commission District 2
Candidate Filings:
Ada Linenbroker, Liberal, Republican
Monalicia Arredondo, Liberal, Republican
Darrell K. Long, Liberal, Democratic

County Commission District 3
Candidate Filings:
Randy Malin, Liberal, Republican
Gladis Gomez-Fornwalt, Liberal, Republican
