Liberal Firefighters “Fill The Boot”

Joe Denoyer - November 2, 2016 3:15 am

For more than 60 years firefighters across the nation have partnered with MDA in their commitment to defeating muscular dystrophy and related life-threatening disease. Liberal firefighters join in this fight primarily through fund raisers. The signature event is the annual “Fill the Boot” campaign in conjunction with the annual MDA Labor Day Telethon project. We are pleased to announce that through the generosity of all who donated by filling the boot, $4,268.00 was raised and delivered MDA headquarters to be put to use benefiting many individuals in their battle with Muscular Dystrophy. Firefighters wish to say a heartfelt “Thank You” to everyone who donated. Whether you gave a little or you gave a lot, it all added up to a generous donation from the Liberal community for this worthy project. We have been assured by MDA representatives that funds collected in our community are earmarked back to our community for those in need. Funds raised each year are used for everything from sending children to summer camp to providing relief from the costs of treatment and equipment.

The Liberal Fire Department would like to extend a thank you to both Wal-Mart and Wal-Mart Market for allowing our personnel to occupy the front of their business over Labor Day Weekend. Their generosity helped to make this project a great success.

The Liberal Fire Department will look forward to a continued partnership with MDA in the future, and hope for ultimate success in the battle against Muscular Dystrophy.
