Joe Denoyer - November 28, 2017 9:16 pm

The Liberal City Commission met Tuesday evening and after a vote of support for the 2018 AirFair, approved to annex a tract of land on the south end of Liberal in the Sycamore, State, and South Street area. The owner requested the annexation to eventually build homes.

Commissioners approved an abatement of a mobile home at 2500 N Western,  approved the DHS Region D Multi-Hazard & Jurisdiction Hazard Mitigation Plan and approved the purchase of an Aircraft Rescue Firefighting Vehicle. Funds for the purchase, $76,469.00,  will come from the Airport Land Sale Funds approved by the FAA.

City Commissioners approved new parking spaces for the Tourist Information Center in the amount of $7,350, and approved the Rebranding Project for the Mid America Air Museum not to exceed $75,000 for Phase 1.

The Commission also voted to accept a FEMA and KDEM reimbursement payment in the amount of $80,936.61 and dispersed the monies back to the departments salaries and benefits, $36,326.54 and the remainder, $44,610.07 back to the Equipment Reserve Fund. The funds are reimbursements from the storms of early 2017.

The Municipal Courtroom/ City Commission remodel was tabled until after the first of the year.
