Change in the Air in Turpin

KSCB News - August 16, 2013 7:15 am

There is change in the air in Turpin, and it’s not just the fact that lawns are plush and green due to recent rains which have been all too absent in past years. Turpin has a new coaching staff breaking away from the John Winchester coaching tree and hiring Justin Hannah from Paul’s Valley. He was the defensive coordinator there the past two years. He was a head coach at Paoli in Class B and took the team to the playoffs three of the past five years.

This will also mark the school’s last year in Class A and 11 man football before going down to Class B and 8 man ball in 2014.

Turpin is young with 23 out for football and just one senior so Turpin fans may need a program this year. Some of the key Cardinals are Sr. WR/CB/K Davian Ratzlaff, Jr. OL/DE Chase Huebner, Jr. QB/OLB Kyler Musgrave, Jr. RB/OLB Willie Enriquez, and So. RB/S Matt Young.

Turpin was 0-10 last season and is 1-19 the past two seasons. They will switch offenses to a spread and switch defenses to a base 4-3.

Turpin will be featured during the Friday morning Sportsguys.
