A Scott Split for LHS Baseball

KSCB News - April 30, 2013 9:08 am

The Liberal baseball team split at Scott City Monday. The Skins won 6-5 but lost 9-2 to fall to 7-9 with a home double header with Garden City and a road DH with Hays remaining on the schedule.

In game one, Jared Hasik pitched six and one-third solid innings for the win. He struck out nine and allowed just two earned runs. Christian Hernandez pitched 2/3 of an inning for the save. Hernandez was also 3-4 with an RBI at the plate. Lorenzo Pando was 1-2 with an RBI. LHS scored two in the fourth and four in the fifth while the Beavers scored two in the third and three in the seventh.

A disastrous start to game two railroaded any chance of a sweep. Scott City scored six in the first and three in the second. Brandyn Terrazas was 2-3 with an RBI and Tim Fitzgerald was 1-3 with a double. Jared Fox pitched four scoreless innings in relief.

Liberal hosts Garden City Monday at 2 p.m.
