A 2 Vehicle Accident Claims 2 Lives

A two vehicle accident has claimed the lives of two Turpin Residents. The accident occurred Friday evening at approximately 5:38 pm at County Road North/South 118 and County RoadEast/West 3, 7 miles North and 1 mile West of Turpin, Oklahoma, in Beaver County.

A 2007 Dodge Ram driven by Silverio Agustin Bernal, 37, of Liberal, was traveling southbound on County Road North/South 118 when he failed to yield to a 2006 Buick Lucerne driven by Maxine Hays, 82, of Turpin, Oklahoma, who was traveling eastbound on County Road East/West 3.

The Dodge Ram struck the Hays vehicle in the driver’s side, in the intersection. Maxine Hays was pinned for approximately two hours and thirty minutes before being extricated by Turpin Fire Department. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Seward County paramedics from head, trunk internal, trunk external, arm,
and leg injuries.

A passenger in her vehicle, Gregory Montgomery, 60, of Turpin was also pronounced dead on scene by Seward County paramedics from head, trunk internal, trunk external, arm, and leg injuries.

Bernal was not injured,
