Winds Cause Semi to Overturn

An injury accident occurred Saturday evening at approximately 7:11 pm, 3.1 miles south of the Us 83 and US 57 intersection.

The accident occurred when a 2003 Kenworth seemi being driven by James Bishop, 65, of Houston Texas was Southbound on Highway 83. Due to heavy rains and winds, Bishop had slowed down. The trailer being pulled by the semi was empty and high winds blew the truck and trailer over. The semi came to rest on it’s driver side facing West/Southwest with the trailer in the east ditch. Bishop was trapped and rescue personnel had to break the windshield to extricate him. He was taken to Satanta District Hospital to be treated for suspected serious injuries.
