…STRONG WINDS EXPECTED TODAY…

.THE PRESSURE GRADIENT WILL TIGHTEN LATER THIS MORNING AND INTO
THE EVENING ACROSS WESTERN KANSAS. THIS WILL CAUSE STRONG SOUTH
TO SOUTHWEST WINDS OF 30 TO 40 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 55 MPH. SOME
AREAS OF BLOWING DUST MAY ALSO OCCUR.

ADVISORY…WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM CDT /10 AM MDT/ THIS
MORNING TO 9 PM CDT /8 PM MDT/ THIS EVENING.

* TIMING…LATE THIS MORNING UNTIL 9 PM CDT.

* WINDS…SOUTH TO SOUTHWEST WINDS OF 30 TO 40 MPH WITH GUSTS TO
55 MPH.

* IMPACTS…TRAVELERS ON WEST TO EAST ROADWAYS WILL BE ESPECIALLY
VULNERABLE TO THE STRONG CROSS WINDS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

WINDS THIS STRONG CAN MAKE DRIVING DIFFICULT…ESPECIALLY FOR
HIGH PROFILE VEHICLES. USE EXTRA CAUTION.

THE KANSAS DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT, BUREAU OF AIR,
RECOMMENDS THAT YOU TAKE PREVENTATIVE MEASURES DUE TO POSSIBLE
HIGHER DUST CONCENTRATIONS DURING THIS HIGH WIND EVENT. HIGHER
LEVELS OF DUST CAN CAUSE RESPIRATORY PROBLEMS, DECREASE LUNG
ACTIVITY, AGGRAVATE ASTHMA, AND LEAD TO POTENTIAL HEART-RELATED
PROBLEMS, ESPECIALLY WITH CHILDREN, ELDERLY, OR THOSE WITH PRE
EXISTING RESPIRATORY CONDITIONS.
