Utility Pole Inspection To Begin In The Panhandle

KSCB News - December 30, 2013 9:29 am

Beginning January 6, contractors will begin inspecting power poles
ensuring equipment is up-to-code and in proper working order.
TCEC contractor crews with Global Services will be working on transmission poles on US Hwy 412 in
Cimarron County and distribution lines west of Hardesty from Texas state line to the Kansas state line.
They are expected to be in those areas for one to two months before moving on. The inspection overall
will be complete in six months.
The process includes crews digging at the base of poles and performing tests. A preservative is applied
to the base of the pole to prevent any future decay, which can add years to the life of a pole.
“Members may see the inspection crew and vehicles near their property,” said Erin Moore, member
solutions coordinator. “There’s no cause for alarm. We’re simply maintaining poles to improve the service
we provide.”
Members with any questions or other concerns may contact TCEC’s member service department at 580-
652-2418.
