USD 480 Board Of Education Meets

Last night’s school board meeting lasted just over an hour in what was one of the shortest in quite some time.

The "Consent Agenda" included LHS Overnight Trips, two gifts, surplus property, waiver of building rental fee, and employment/resignations/retirements/transfers

Passed with a 4-0 vote.

New Business

1. Renewal of Infant & Toddler Agreement, Parents and Teachers Together (PACT)

Passed with a 5-0 vote.

2. Contingency Reserve- To transfer $489,659.66 to the Contingency Reserve Fund from the General Fund

Passed with a 5-0 vote.

3. AlertNow-Instant Notification System- The cost of the system is $2.35 per student, an annual cost of $11,045.

Passed with a 5-0 vote.

4. Meal Price Increase- Approve the price increase of all paid meals by five cents (.05) for the 2011-2012 School Year to comply with the Section 205 Healthy Hunger Free Kids Act of 2010 "Equity in School Lunch Pricing" Provision.

Passed with a 5-0 vote.

5. Board Policies- Update Board Policies AD and KI

Passed with a 5-0 vote.

6. Flooring Replacement-Approve the bid from Flooring America & Furniture Outlet in the amount of $36,150 for the Carpet, Floor Tile and Vinyl Coving replacement in the selected areas at West Middle School, Sunflower Intermediate, Lincoln Elementary, McDermott Elementary, and McKinley Elementary.

Passed with a 5-0 vote.

7. Roofing Replacement for Garfield School- Approve the bid from Roofmasters Roofing – $119,733.00.

Passed with a 5-0 vote.

8. Administration & Classified Raises- To approve a 3% increase for non-12 month administrators and a 1% increase for 12- month administration and full-time classified.

Passed with a 4-2 vote.

10. Re-employment of Administrators (Doesn’t include Mr. Stout or Dr. Gross since they are currently in year one of two year contracts)

Passed with a 5-1 vote.

11. Technology Rich Classroom Grant

Passed with a 6-0 vote.

12. Heartspring Contract for Special Education

13. Resolution 5-23-11- Appoint Paul Larkin as Hearing Officer for student suspension or expulsion.

Passed with a 5-1 vote.

14. Naming of Sports Complex- To approve adding the name of Gary Cornelsen Sports Complex to Redskin Field, the track, the practice fields, and the weight room.

Passed with a 6-0 vote.

15. COPS Grant- The grant will pay the entry level salary and benefits of the position for a period of 36 months.

Passed with a 6-0 vote.

The next school board meeting will take place on Monday, June 6, 2011 at 7 p.m.
