Joe Denoyer - January 22, 2018 8:38 pm

USD 480

The USD 480 Board of Education met in regular session on Monday evening and first on the agenda was the recognition of Mrs. Betty Clifton, 1st grade teacher at MacArthur, as the January Chamber of Commerce and USD 480 Teacher of the Month.

The BOE heard an update from Mr. Grant Mathews, “That” Liberal Band director, on the itinerary and plans for the upcoming trip to Chicago and a district technology update from Mr. Michael Stovall, Director of District Systems.

The board approved implementing a recruitment incentive program in an effort to increase teacher hiring. Financial incentives such as a “Welcome to Liberal”, “Bring a Friend”, and “Recommend a Friend” bonuses will be implemented beginning this spring. In other business, the board discussed the renewal of the contract with Alio Maintenance, approved a bid with SWKO to increase the district’s internet bandwidth, and for six board members and the superintendent to attend the National Association of School Boards conference in San Antonio during April.
