USD 480 Board Approves Fertigation System

The USD 480 Board of Education met Monday evening and approved the bid from Southwest Glass of Liberal in the amount of $34,340.00 to replace the East exterior windows at Sunflower Elementary.

The Board also approved approve the bid from EcorFert, Inc. in the amount of $53,550.00 for Goals Facilities to furnish and install fertigation systems throughout the district. The fertigation systems will help to ensure that the appropriate fertilizers and weed control are being applied consistently throughout the district.

The Board approved the following Seymour Rogers Middle School chorus courses: Selected Chorus, Intermediate Chorus, and Beginner Chorus, and approved a one year lease agreement with Head Start.

The ESSER III committee met on February 24 and reviewed the ESSER II and ESSER III recommendations. The Board approved those recommendations. Also approved were the iReady Tier 1 and Tier II math instructional materials for 6 years at $434,600 and professional learning for 6 years at $227,500.

The Board of Education approved the Elementary IEP Coordinator and SPED Instructional Coach (new positions) to replace the Assistant Director of Special Education position. Currently, the Assistant Director has been providing teacher support and IEP compliance review along with the IEP Coordinator for PreK-12. The structure for the SPED district office would be the Director of Special Education, Elementary IEP Coordinator, Secondary IEP Coordinator, and SPED Instructional Coach. The probability of filling the new positions should be higher than filling the Assistant Director, which is a district level certified position.

RML9 Investments Inc offered $200,000 for 425 S Pennsylvania and the Board rejected the offer and countered with $250,000.00. The board also approved Unified Bowling for USD 480 starting with the 2022 season.
