United Way Receives First Donation For Its 50th Anniversary Campaign

KSCB News - July 25, 2011 8:09 am

Gordon Applebee, Rafter J Liquor, and Chris Carlile, Ruffino’s Restaurant, recently presented $1,184 to Alicia Bird, one of the 2012 Campaign Chairs as the first donation for the 50 th Anniversary Campaign for the Seward County United Way. The money was raised during the June 5 wine tasting event at Ruffino’s Restaurant. “This is the second year we have had the event,” said Bird, “and I think everyone who participates has a great time.” The 50 th Anniversary Campaign, with a $325,000 goal, will officially kick off Sept. 9. “We really appreciate the support of Ruffino’s Restaurant and Rafter J Liquor for this event. It gives us a great start to the campaign and it’s probably one of the events where the volunteers have as much fun as the participants,” Bird said. Rather than one campaign chair, the 50 th Anniversary Campaign has a team of campaign chairs including almost of all of the campaign chairs from the last 10 years.
