(KFDA) The trial for Tad Cullum has been pushed to 2027 after a court hearing Tuesday morning in Texas County.
Cullum is accused, along with four others, of the murders of Veronica Butler and Jilian Kelley in March 2024.
All documents in the case were previously removed by Texas County ahead of Cullum’s death penalty trial, which had been scheduled for October.
The documents stated an issue arose when a prospective juror searched the report for what trials were set.
The court found that viewing the cases online could show a juror inappropriate information about the case.
The order was not specifically filed for this case. The administrative order restricting online search access to files set for trial was granted in October 2019.
Later on Tuesday, Texas County unsealed the documents after Cullum, with his attorneys, filed a motion to postpone.
The judge granted the motion.
Court documents show that one of the attorneys has a serious medical condition that will require immediate surgery.
The judge granted the motion for a continuance. The state of Oklahoma’s objection was denied.
The case was reopened for public searches but will be restricted ahead of the February trial date.
hearing will be held on Monday, Nov. 30, and Tuesday, Dec. 1.
A final pretrial hearing will be held on Jan. 27, 2027.
The trial is scheduled for Feb. 23, 2027, at 9 a.m.
