Perry LaRay Heckle, 85, of Liberal, passed away on Tuesday October 27, 2026 at his home.
He was born on February 20, 1941 to Clarence and Agnes (Love) Heckle at Turpin, OK.
On October 15, 1959 he married Carol Curry in Liberal, KS.
Perry graduated from Liberal High School, class of 1960. He began working in the oilfield at age 17 while in high school and continued until he retired in 2003. He shared his knowledge and experience with many other oilfield workers throughout his career. Though he worked many long hours he enjoyed many activities including gardening, fishing with is kids & grandkids, and occasionally watching Fox News. Even though he built a wonderful career with many accomplishments, his family was always his greatest achievement. He was always proud of them and all they were doing. Perry was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Guymon, OK.
Perry is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Carol Perry of Liberal, KS; Daughter, Kelli Springer and husband Rocky of Peel, AR; Three Sons, Van Heckle and wife Kitty of Guymon, OK, David Heckle and wife Aurora of Plattsburg, MO, C. C. Heckle and wife Tonda of Turpin, OK; Two Sisters, Mary Monden of Amarillo, TX, Georgia Vigil of Monte Vista, CO; 23 Grandchildren, 30 Great Grandchildren, and Six Great Great Grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Clarence and Agnes Heckle, Two Brothers, Clarence Calvin Heckle, Jr. and Lawrence LaVan Heckle, and Great Granddaughter, Marisela “Maddy” Mendoza.
Viewing will be held Thursday, October 29, 2026, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Miller Mortuary, Liberal, Kansas.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 30, 2026, at 2:00 pm at the Miller Mortuary Chapel, with Rev. Van Heckle officiating.
Burial will take place in the Liberal City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made payable to Tabernacle Baptist Church in care of Miller Mortuary PO Box 826 Liberal, KS 67905-0826.
