Maria Cecilia Hernandez Anguiano, 59, of Liberal, KS passed away on Sunday October 25, 2026 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal.
She was born on November 28, 1966 to Efren Hernandez Hernandez and Elvira Anguiano in Juan Aldama, Zacatacas, Mexico.On May 5, 1986 she married Emilio Mata Adame in Juan Aldama, Zacatacas, Mexico.
Maria enjoyed cooking for her family and preparing their favorite dishes including Tamales and Gorditas. She also enjoyed crocheting and sewing. As an accomplished seamstress & designer she designed and made outfits for her family and others to enjoy. Maria loved community events and would help in any way she could. She especially loved sewing for her children and grandchildren. Maria had a heart of gold; she was a loving wife, mother, and friend who will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her loving husband Emilio; two daughters, Esmeralda Mata of Liberal, KS, and Ruby Mata of Liberal, KS; two sons, Emilio Mata, Jr. of Liberal, KS, and Juan Mata of Liberal, KS; four brothers; and three sisters.
Maria was preceded in death by her parents.
There will be no public viewing or visitation.
Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday October 29, 2026 at 10:30 am at the Miller Mortuary Chapel.
Cremation will follow and the burial of ashes will take place in Juan Aldama, Zacatacas, Mexico.
