Rafael Flores Ramirez age 71, died on Friday, October 23, 2026, in Wichita, Kansas.
He was born October 27, 1957, in Guanajuato, Mexico to Epifanio Flores Zaragoza and Elvira Ramirez Valadez.
Rafael and his wife, Maria Solorio de Flores, shared 45 years of marriage. Their family grew to include five sons, two daughters, and twenty-three grandchildren. He loved and enjoyed watching his favorite soccer team “Las chivas” with his sons and enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and listening to music. Rafael worked at National Beef Packing Plant. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Maria Solorio de Flores of Liberal, Kansas,
Five sons, Luis Adrian Flores Solorio and his wife, Cristina Vazquez of Mexico,
Luis Alberto Flores Solorio and his wife, Martha Flores of Liberal, Kansas,
Jose Martin Flores Solorio and his wife, Rosa Flores of Liberal, Kansas,
Rafael Flores and his wife Yuri Flores of Liberal, Kansas, and
Alexander Flores of Liberal, Kansas,
Two daughters, Patricia Flores Solorio and her husband, Pedro Cabrera of Liberal, Kansas, and Maria Flores and her husband, Irvin Bustillos of Liberal, Kansas,
Eight brothers, three sisters, and 23 grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Epifanio Flores Zaragoza and Elvira Ramirez Valadez and two brothers, Lorenzo Flores and Jose Flores.
Visitation will be from 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Thursday, October 29, 2026, at the Hornung Family Funeral Home Chapel, 1212 W 2nd Street, Liberal, Kansas.
Rosary will follow at 7:00 PM, Thursday, October 29, 2026, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1510 N. Calhoun, Liberal, Kansas.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, October 30, 2026, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Liberal, Kansas. The Reverend Esteban Hernandez will be the celebrant.
A burial will follow at Liberal Cemetery.
