Are you ready to golf for a good cause? ExxonMobil will be holding its

Eighth Annual United Way Golf Tournament on Friday, Sept. 28, at the

Willow Tree Golf Course in Liberal. All proceeds from the tournament

will be donated to the Seward County United Way.

“This has been a great event every year,” said Kay Burtzloff, executive

director of the Seward County United Way. “Not only did they raise

almost $12,000 for United Way last year but everyone had a good time doing it.”

"We have a $10,000 cash prize for anyone who makes hole-in-one on the

second hole of the golf course and then we also have a choice of a $500 Visa gift card or other

prizes if they make a hole-in-one on the 7th or 16th hole,” said Wayne Titus, the organizer of the event. “We think this will make the event

more exciting for our golfers.

The tournament is a four-person scramble with shotgun starts at 9 a.m..

The entry fee is $75 per golfer, if you register early or $85 at

the door. Entry fee includes a free food and a team picture. Mulligans

are available at $5 apiece and can be purchased with early registration

or at the door. Prizes will be awarded to first, second and third places

in each flight and there are also many individual hole prizes.

Titus said that there are also hole prizes on every hole and door

prizes. “Everyone will be taking something home at the end of the day

because we also have a goodie bag for every participant.”

Titus said that there were some great opportunities for sponsorships for

the golf tournament left. “We have different levels on sponsorships

including Platinum Sponsor, Gold Sponsor, Silver Sponsor and Bronze

Sponsor. We’ve got a variety of ways to recognize our sponsors,

including banners, publicity, radio ads and newspaper articles. The

main thing is that we want this to be a fun event that raises money for

United Way.”

Burtzloff said, “ExxonMobil has been terrific supporters of United Way

in the past but this will really help us get our 2013 campaign off to a

great start. I plan to be there the whole day, cheering on the teams.”

Twenty of the Seward County United Way’s 27 agencies serve beyond Seward

County. "Many of our agencies serve the region, not just Seward County,"

Burtzloff said. "That’s why the ExxonMobil office in Hugoton has been

willing to help us in our fundraising because services come back to

Stevens County."
