Seward County Fire Battle Fire, High Winds

On Sunday October 11, 2020 at 6:00 pm Seward County Fire Department was dispatched to a vegetation fire on Road 4, East of Road P. Units arrived on scene to find natural vegetation on fire with a rapid rate of spread with several structures in the path. Forward progress was achieved within 30 minutes and the fire was contained. Units stayed on scene through the high winds that accompanied a cold front through the area.

No injuries were reported. No structures were damaged and no evacuations were necessary. The fire department responded with 1 chief officer, 9 firefighters, 2 engines, 2 attack trucks, and 3 water tenders. Seward County Sheriff’s Office assisted. The cause of the fire is undetermined.
