Seward County Commission Approves Security Cameras

The Seward County Commission met Monday evening in a Special Meeting ay 4:30 pm to discuss the Rodeo Arena relocation. Commissioners moved to get the specs to bid out the dirt work to move the arena in front of the Grandstands.

After the Special meeting, Commissioners held there regular meeting. Up first, Marvin Chance, Jr. discussed with Commissioners the possibility of County assistance with his housing development project.

Commissioners moved the County’s Insurance renewal with Al Shank Insurance to a special meeting as the are waiting on more information before making a decision, and heard information on Breastfeeding services being offered by Seward County Health Dept. The Commission also heard a Year in Review Report from the Seward County Development Corporation.

Approved was the purchase of Security Cameras for Event Center and Ag Building, and approval was given for the AMCS Software Agreement for the Landfill.

Commissioners gave the County Clerk permission to cut a special check in the amount of $105,000.00 to Truck Town, LLC for the purchase of 2 trucks for the Road and Bridge Department. Trucks should be ready next week. The Board also approved the purchase of a trailer and belly dump for Road and Bridge.

Approved was the bid submitted by Diamond Roofing in the amount of $538,200.00 with 100 calendar days to complete work of the Courthouse re-roof and the County Fee Schedule was approved for 2024.

Board appointments included, for the Council on Aging Andy Stewart, Connie McPhail, Katie Berg, Melinda Cline, and Linda Martinez.

Commissioners also approved Holiday Schedule Meeting to be moved as follows:
January 01, 2024 to Tuesday, January 02, 2024
January 15, 2024 to Tuesday, January 16, 2024
February 05, 2024 to Tuesday, February 06, 2024
February 19, 2024 to Tuesday, February 20, 2024
September 02, 2024 to Tuesday, September 03, 2024.
