Seaboard Bomb Threat A Hoax

KSCB News - June 15, 2010 12:00 am

An early morning bomb threat to the Seaboard plant is now being described as a hoax, according to Guymon Police.

Emergency officials were called to the Seaboard plant shortly after 6 a.m. on Monday. Officials say an unknown person called the facility and said that they put a bomb in the building.

“This person said that there was a bomb in one of the rooms,” said Guymon Chief of Police Eddie Adamson.

Emergency responders included Texas County Emergency Managment, Guymon Fire Department and Guymon Police Department.

Guymon Police and officials with Seaboard worked to determine that it was not a “credible threat.” Only the immediate area around the room that the caller identified was evacuated. The plant, which employs thousands of Guymon residents, was not evacuated because officials said that the employees’ safety was not at risk.

Stan Scott, General Manager at the Seaboard Plant, told The Guymon Daily Herald that the incident was simply a hoax and nothing was found. He declined to comment any further on the matter.

The bomb threat remains under investigation and those who may have information or tips are asked to call the Guymon Police Department at 338-6525 or Crime Stoppers at 338-8593. Information that leads to an arrest can net a cash reward.

“We take everything serious,” said Adamson.
