Saints Shut Down Dodge

KSCB News - April 7, 2009 12:00 am

The Seward County Saints have won seven of the past eight and 11 of the past 16 Jayhawk West titles. But they found themselves in sixth place out of nine teams this weekend. That has changed. The Saints took all four games against Dodge City after winning 10-1 and 2-0 at Brent Gould Field Monday night. The Saints are back in the conference title hunt, just one game behind first place Garden City. The two teams play this weekend in Garden. In game one, the Saints scored six in the sixth to put away the Conqs and win 10-1. Perryton’s Austin Terhune (3-1) pitched the distance striking out five for the win. Keegan Morrow, David Cruz, Travis Parker, and Quay Grant had two hits a piece in the win. The Saints turned three double plays defensively. In game two, Kevin Schultz pitched six innings and allowed one hit. Travis Parker pitched the seventh for his school record seventh save. Seward is 23-13 overall and 12-8 in the Jayhawk West. The Conqs fall to 12-21 overall and 6-12 in the Jayhawk West.
