Saints Drop Two for Worst Record in 20 Years

KSCB News - April 29, 2010 12:00 am

There were some positives for Seward in two losses (11-8 and 13-8) at #18 Lamar Wednesday. Jared Wagner pitched four scoreless innings and earned a start Sunday in one of the games against Colby which could determine at Jayhawk West championship. Kelby Tomlinson, one day after hitting for the cycle against Clarendon, smacked two homers against the Runnin’ Lopes. Todd Glime, Quay Grant, and Perryton’s David Morgan also took advantage of the wind and small ballpark at Lamar. Josh Dawson doubled twice. But Seward coach Galen McSpadden used the double header to give his pitchers some work in preparation for conference play in Colby. Several Saint pitchers struggled which has been the case all year in non conference games. Seward falls to 25-27, their worst record since the 1990 team was 17-28. Seward is 4-20 in non conference games which is the worst non conference record in program history. The Saints remain tied for first with Butler. Seward plays at Colby Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. on Talkradio 1270 and kscbnews.net. Butler hosts Hutchinson this weekend.
