Saints Defensive Stand Seals Win

Seward’s clock management left a lot to be desired down the stretch but the result was still satisfactory at Seward beat Dodge City 71-69 Saturday night in front of big homecoming crowd at the Green House. Seward (21-7, 8-6) led by 16 (62-46) with 6:30 to play but Dodge City came roaring back to tie the game. Jon Tassin sank two free throws with 12 second left. The Conquistadors didn’t get a shot off during their ensuing possession. Dodge falls to 11-18 overall and 4-11 in the Jayhawk West. Tony Smith and Marquez Patterson scored 19 a piece in the win. Marcus James added 17 points and eight rebounds. The Conqs lost after committing 23 turnovers but shooting 48 percent from the field for the game and 55 percent in the second half. Rodney Clinksgales scored 22 for the Conqs in the loss. Seward hosts Garden City Wednesday night at 8 pm on B107.5 and kscb.net.
