Road Work To Start On Highway 283

A resurfacing project on US-283 from Minneola to Dodge City could start as early as Tuesday, July 19. The project runs from Elm Street in Minneola to the US-56 junction on the south side of Dodge City, a distance of about 19 miles. Road crews will perform a two-inch surface recycle, followed by an ultra-thin bonded asphalt overlay. The portion of the project in Minneola calls for milling the top two inches of asphalt, followed by a two-inch asphalt overlay.

During construction, traffic will be reduced to one lane through the work zone, guided by a pilot car. The Kansas Department of Transportation reminds drivers to be alert, pay attention to all warning signs and be prepared to stop at work zones.

Schilling Construction Co., Inc., of Manhattan is the primary contractor on this approximately $3 million T-WORKS preservation project. The Kansas DOT expects the work to be completed by mid-September.
