Redskins Move to Championship with 3-0 Win Over Seaman

KSCB News - November 6, 2010 12:00 am

The Redskins were dominant in a 3-0 semifinals win over the Topeka Seaman Vikings Friday evening in Emporia. The Skins play St. Thomas Aquinas at 2 p.m. Saturday at Emporia District Stadium for the title. Isai Gutierrez scored Liberal’s first goal with a little over five minutes to play in the first half. Two minutes later, Seaman (11-7-2) knocked the ball into their own goal. Freshman Jason Rios scored Liberal’s final goal in the second half. Aquinas beat Kapaun 1-0 in the other semifinal. Head coach Lori Navarro says the Skins have worked for this. “We worked really hard starting this summer for these big games and it’s all or nothing now. We have to play with our hearts.”

Isai Gutierrez says it’s about team. “We have great talent and great skill. Every single person on the team wants to take it all. We have to come out with full intensity.”

Today’s game airs on B107.5 at 2 p.m.
